   • Manus (юр.), в обширном смысле означает potestas и mancipium, власть отца семейства, в узком смысле — власть мужа над женой в браке, заключенном по строгому римскому обычаю. Судебная власть мужа над женою, однако, не ограничивалась такими браками, но была ему и предоставлена и в том случае, когда брак был заключен менее торжественным образом, см.
